the people of the south.

Antemoro. a people of about 500,000 in their population. very few who have heard the name of Jesus before.

i am often asked what i am looking forward to most in moving to Madagascar. when i say "seeing and meeting people," i tend to get strange looks. they expect something like favorite food or animal. the people of Madagascar, as a whole, are some of the most beautiful and genuinely kind people i've met. they love to smile and laugh, which is one of my favorite things to do.

that isn't the only reason i'm looking forward to it though. there is something so exciting about being able to be part of a movement of God. God is always moving, and He is definitely at work among all the people of Madagascar!

did you know, that just last week, there were 13 new believers baptized in the southwestern part of Madagascar? it may not be among the Antemoro people, but let me tell you, it is no less exciting! God is moving in ways we don't even realize or see. my prayer is that we all see people all around us with the same eyes God sees us with.

as i head to Madagascar in January, i hope to be able to bring you stories of God's goodness and faithfulness among the Antemoro people. i know there will be hard days, but God is always good, even in the bad days. i can't wait to bring you all along on this journey! be praying that the Gospel would sink deep into the hearts of the Antemoro people and start a movement across the island that is all for the glory of God.

Rains in Africa

Rain. Or lack thereof is what is happening in Madagascar at the current moment. You will see gray clouds looming overhead, but nothing falls out of them. And if something does, its for seconds, at the MOST minutes long. Drought, is certainly here in the capital city of Antananarivo. I haven’t been in the city long, so I don’t claim to know much of it. What I do know, is that the streets are crowded with cars and people alike. During lunchtime, you can see the “sidewalks” filled with little kids in their blue smocks, going home for break. A few hours later, those same children fill the sidewalks again, going back to school. The cycle repeats itself every day. Since it is currently Saturday here, the pace is quite a bit slower, which my little town Madagascar heart loves. It is a welcomed relief from all the hustle and bustle. When I’ve been driving around, I’ve noticed many Malagasy people staring. This is not an uncommon occurrence, because of my very pale white skin. However,...

Faithful Love

I've been dreaming up plans for ministry this morning. As I sat down at my computer, I drew up a list of things I wanted to do. Exciting ways the Lord is moving here in Madagascar! The dreams I pray will come to fruition among His work here. I realized that I needed a statement or purpose to hinge these dreams on. So, I began my search. The word "gentle" kept coming to me, so I did a word search on my YouVersion app. It led me to many verses, but a specific Psalm leapt right out of my phone. Psalm 103:8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. Not an uncommon verse to read. We often times like to read this single verse to help us feel better after we have sinned in some way. To make our sin seem less. Like it isn't a big deal. I read this and almost passed it up and chocked it up to being "too cliche". But, I felt prompted to read the Psalm in its entirety. Psalm 103 My soul, bless the Lord, and all that is wi...

new year, new adventures

When coming to a new year, many people make all sorts of resolutions. I'm going to lose weight.                                              I'm going to read more.                                                                                          I'm going to call my mom more. And then, these resolutions are made, and what happens? They are as easily forgotten next week as they were made yesterday. I often feel as if New Year's Resolutions are silly. Most are just lip service and don't actually happen. But, a word for the year? THAT i can get behind! Last year, my word was diligence.  I had this word about 2 weeks before the actual n...
